What’s an L-Pad?
The Jim Kelley Power Attenuator is specifically designed to allow you to control the volume of your amplifier by adjusting the amount of power delivered to the speaker. This allows you turn your amp up so it can achieve its best tone and still maintain precise control of your volume. The Jim Kelley Power Attenuator utilizes a time proven engineering standard L-pad circuit comprised of a pair of 100 watt rheostats wired in an ‘L’ shape that function as a variable power divider while maintaining a nearly constant load on the amp. This allows the natural tone of your amplifier to come through at virtually any power level. What about the Loudness effect?
It’s what happens when you listen to music low volumes – the high end and low end become less prominent. Stereo systems have a Loudness switch, and the Jim Kelley Power Attenuator has 3 levels of Treble Boost compensation – 0 dB, +3dB, or +6dB. The exact amount of compensation provided varies as needed with the amount of attenuation. But Wait….There’s More!
The footswitch allows you to bypass the attenuator in order to get back to full power in an instant. And, the auxiliary jack on the footswitch box can be used to simultaneously add gain boost, or select channels whenever you depress the footswitch.
